How to get to Kyrgyzstan: flights from Europe, connections and the airport

Updated 14 September 2026. Prepared by the Elimtour team.

From the Czech Republic and most of Europe you usually reach Kyrgyzstan with one change, most often in Istanbul, landing at Manas International Airport near Bishkek. Other options are a connection in Dubai, or flying to Almaty in Kazakhstan and crossing the border to Bishkek by road. Manas airport is about 25 km from Bishkek.

In short

  • The main airport is Manas, about 25 km from Bishkek; since 9 August 2025 its code has been BSZ instead of FRU.
  • From Prague you fly with a change: Istanbul to Bishkek takes about 5 h 10 min, Dubai to Bishkek about 4 h 45 min.
  • From Almaty it is about 240 km by road to Bishkek via the Korday / Ak-Zhol border crossing, or a short Air Astana flight.
  • Taxis run from the airport around the clock, and minibus 380 runs to the city during the day, roughly 6:30 to 20:00.
  • On our programmes a Czech-speaking guide meets you at Manas airport on day 1; flights are not included.

Which airport should you fly into?

Kyrgyzstan's main international airport is Manas. It lies about 25 km north-west of Bishkek, and on 9 August 2025 its three-letter IATA code changed from FRU to BSZ. Search for it under the new code when booking.

The second international airport is in Osh in the south, served by Pegasus from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. All our programmes start and end in Bishkek, though, so when you travel with us you fly into Manas.

How do you fly from Prague or Europe to Bishkek?

From Prague you usually fly to Bishkek with one change. The most common hub is Istanbul, which Turkish Airlines and Pegasus both serve non-stop from Prague. Another option is Dubai with flydubai.

Airline networks change every season. The table shows what we checked in September 2026; always check current schedules with the airline or a flight search engine.

What time do flights land in Bishkek?

Some flights from Istanbul and Dubai land in Bishkek at night or early in the morning; in the September 2026 schedules, roughly between 3 and 7 am. Other flights arrive in the late morning or afternoon. What counts is the time of your own flight.

Kyrgyzstan is on UTC+6, so it is 4 hours ahead of Prague in summer and 5 hours ahead in winter. Flying east shortens your night, so expect to feel more tired on the first day.

Can you travel via Almaty in Kazakhstan?

Yes. Air Astana flies from Almaty to Bishkek, or you can go by road. The cities are about 240 km apart, and the main border crossing is called Korday on the Kazakh side and Ak-Zhol on the Kyrgyz side. Buses, minivans and taxis use the crossing.

  • You pass both Kazakh and Kyrgyz passport control; waiting times at the border vary, so leave yourself a buffer.
  • Czech citizens can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for short stays of up to 30 days, according to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Other nationalities should check their own rules.
  • Our programmes start at Manas airport. If you want to arrive via Almaty, tell us in advance so we can agree where to meet on day 1.

How do you get from Manas airport to Bishkek?

The airport is about 25 km from the city, roughly 30 to 40 minutes by car. If you are not travelling with us, your options are:

  • Taxi: according to the airport operator, taxi services run 24 hours a day.
  • Yandex Go: this ride-hailing app works in Bishkek, and you can choose card payment in the app.
  • Minibus (marshrutka) 380: links the airport with Bishkek and runs roughly from 6:30 to 20:00.

If you land at night, that leaves a taxi, the app or a transfer arranged in advance.
